Beville May has pioneered new legal theories, products and services
for clients for more than 20 years. After litigating cases for many years,
Beville left the practice of law to devote herself to a claims
prevention practice. Her consulting firm, Prevent Claims,
LLC, helps companies prevent,
investigate and resolve lawsuits.
Beville has deep experience in harassment matters. She received national
and international acclaim when she tried and won the first hostile work
environment sexual harassment case. She also participated in winning
cases before the US Supreme Court, the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts
and the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. She has trained
lawyers and human resource professionals around the country how to prevent
and investigate sexual harassment charges.
Beville has appeared on national television and radio, and is a popular
and dynamic speaker. She has conducted training programs across the country
for lawyers, human resource professionals and private audiences on claims
prevention topics like harassment prevention, administering leave laws
and the like.
A seasoned investigator, Beville has investigated charges of employment
discrimination and harassment, as well as financial and securities fraud
claims. She has trained investigators for the Judicial Institute of Massachusetts
and the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. Administrative
agencies and the courts on the strength of her investigative reports
have dismissed cases against her clients.
Beville
is committed to resolving client matters at the earliest possible juncture
using mediation or negotiation skills. She is a volunteer mediator
with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s National Mediation
Program in the Philadelphia District Office. She is also called in to
conduct early case assessments and to resolve cases or conflicts via
negotiation. She is best known for her negotiated settlement in Broderick
v. Ruder where she obtained, among other things, a permanent injunction
against the US Securities & Exchange Commission.
