Risk
Management
Many participants were surprised to
learn that changes in federal law now put Code of Conduct squarely
at the center of any risk management strategy. For example, under
the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, punitive fines can now “be
significantly reduced – in some cases up to 95%” by
an effective compliance and ethics program. United States Sentencing
Commission (2004).
Training
Many
companies have not put together comprehensive strategies to train
on Code of Conduct. Indeed, more than half of the participants
candidly admitted that their organizations did not provide any
employee training on ethics and code of conduct.

It
is extremely important that all companies, regardless of size,
train their managers, supervisors and all top management in their
Code of Conduct, Ethics and Anti-Harassment. Those employees
are considered “agents” of
the company and the government assumes as part of your responsibilities,
that they have been trained!
IF:
- YOUR
company doesn’t have a written code of conduct
and ethics policy
- YOUR
company hasn’t trained in the last two years
