Hopefully
you are aware of all the intricacies of the new regulations issued
on February17, 2009 as the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009-(ARRA)
You and your company have until April 17 th
to send out the memos to all laid off employees from September
1, 2009 until present. A separate memo will need to be sent to
all Assistance Eligible Individuals (AEI’s) to notify them
of their second chance to elect COBRA benefits.
It is important that you work closely with your Benefits provider
as well as your payroll company to coordinate efforts.
The
IRS as well as DOL should be providing new forms as of March
17th. The IRS has all ready revised the 941 form to include the
lines necessary for you to deduct the credits coming to you.
